Unsuspecting

When Colin and I went for our usual afternoon walk, I didn’t suspect anything.  Not even when we walked down a quiet road surrounded by lush green hills overlooking a lake.  It was a beautiful day although it was a bit cloudy. The air was clean and fresh. And it was quiet. A welcome change from the city.

We were walking and he had his arm around me, talking and then he suddenly stopped. “This is the perfect spot,” he said.

I looked at him. “For what?” I asked.

“To propose,” he replied, getting down on one knee. He reached into his back pocket and fished out a little black box. He opened it.

My heart caught in my throat and I was speechless.

“Ingrid Smith, will you marry me?”

“Yes,” was all I could say because I was blubbering.

He grinned and rising to his feet, he pulled me into his arms and planted one on me.

This musing of mine was done for the Ragtag Daily Prompt for today’s prompt, walk. If you’re interested in participating, click HERE for more information.
